Gifts of Hope Delivery to Families by Law Enforcement

Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 8:00 am

Victim Assistance Program and sponsors help brighten clients' holidays through our Gifts of Hope Program!

Advocates refer clients throughout the year that have experienced a particularly traumatic crime or tragedy. The Gifts of Hope program matches these individuals/families with donors, who supply them with a holiday gifts from their “wish lists.” Donors are being asked to drop off their gifts to Victim Assistance Program's main office (150 Furnace Street, Akron, Ohio 44304) on Friday, December 16th anytime between 8am-8pm. Due to confidentiality, you will not be able to meet your family or personally deliver items to them. However, on Tuesday, December 20th, we invite donors to join us for coffee and doughnuts at our main office from 8am-10am to watch as law enforcement load up their cruisers with gifts to be delivered to the families.

If you, your family, a group of friends, or your business is interested in sponsoring a family, please complete the Donor Registration Form and email it to Ashley:  anickelsen@victimassistanceprogram.org or fax it to (330) 376-0851.  For more information, call Victim Assistance Program at (330) 376-0040.

Although Victim Assistance Program has provided holiday gifts to clients in need for decades, 2015 was the third year donors were able to take a hands on approach and do the shopping and wrapping themselves. One Gifts of Hope recipient said, “Unless you’ve been through this, you wouldn’t understand how much it means to know that there is still good in the world. This blessing has given us the hope and courage to keep moving forward. There are no words to express how grateful we are.” The Gifts of Hope program continued in 2014, allowing our organization and sponsors to bring joy to families in need.  Read more about the 2014 Gifts of Hope program in the Akron Beacon Journal.
